1st Note

About 1st Note

1st Note is a comprehensive digital piano database with spec-based scores. Compare over 200 models across 15 major brands.

Our Mission

Choosing a digital piano can be overwhelming — hundreds of models, confusing specs, and subjective reviews. 1st Note cuts through the noise with a transparent, spec-based scoring system. Every score is calculated algorithmically from manufacturer-published specifications. No sponsors, no paid placements.

How Our Scores Work

Every score on 1st Note is calculated algorithmically from manufacturer-published specifications. We don't accept payment for reviews or rankings. Our 5-axis scoring system (Beginner, Night Practice, Portability, Touch Reality, and Value) lets you compare across brands on the dimensions that matter most. The scoring formula is fully transparent — each product page shows exactly how the score was calculated.

Who We're For

Anyone choosing a digital piano — from complete beginners to returning players to seasoned musicians upgrading their instrument. Our scoring system emphasizes beginner-friendly features by design, making it especially useful for first-time buyers, but the spec data and comparisons are valuable for players of all levels.

Background

1st Note is part of a family of music sites that have been operating since 2017. The sister site Piano Juku (pianojuku.info) publishes over 200 original and arranged sheet music pieces, totaling more than 800 individual scores when counting beginner, intermediate, and advanced versions, and reaches up to 400,000 monthly pageviews. Its companion site Piano Juku Gakuhu Keijiban (pianojuku-gakuhu.info) is a community sheet music board that records up to 300,000 monthly pageviews.

Over eight years of publishing sheet music and piano education content, an increasing number of readers asked us which digital piano to choose for home practice. That recurring question is what led directly to building 1st Note — a place to compare digital pianos based on manufacturer specifications and primary sources, free from affiliate-driven recommendations and subjective reviews.

The sister sites are also referenced as teaching material in music schools and disability-support organizations.

Transparency

Our scoring system is 100% based on published specs. No manufacturer pays us for reviews or placement. The full scoring logic is open and explained on each product page. If you find an error in our data, please contact us — accuracy is our top priority.

Corrections & feedback

If you find an error in a spec or a description, please contact us. Citing a primary source (manufacturer page, official manual, authorized retailer spec sheet) makes the correction much faster. We will verify, update the page, and refresh its last-verified date.
